How will I be issued my stimulus check, and can I update my direct deposit information?

The IRS has issued the first few batches of payments via direct deposit and has also begun delivering checks through the mail for individuals who do not have direct deposit information on file. If you have not received your stimulus payment and would like to update your direct deposit information, you can do so on the IRS’ Get My Payment tool.If you used a tax service to obtain an advance tax refund or decided to deduct the tax preparation fee from your tax refund, the IRS may have an issue processing your refund and it may be delayed while theIRS prepares to issue a check via mail. This leaves several possibilities of where your stimulus check may be:-You have not provided a direct deposit and your check has/will be sent to the last address on file with either the IRS or USPS.-The direct deposit information the IRS has on file is incorrect and payment was sent to the wrongaccount.-Your 2019 tax return is awaiting processing to determine eligibility and will be paid in the form most recently provided (direct deposit or check).

If you have filed your tax return for 2018 or 2019, you can check the status of your financial impact payment in the Get My Payment section. If you have submitted your 2019 tax return and it has not been processed yet, you can get the status of 'No Payment Status'.

If you have used a non-filing tool, you can go to the Get My Payment page and check the payment status of your financial impact within two weeks. If you have to file a 2019 tax return and use a non-filing tool, it can delay the processing of your tax return and delay the payment of financial impact.

If you are an SSA-1099, RRB-1099, SSI, or VA beneficiary and have not refunded or used a non-filing tool, you can check the status of financial impact in getting My Payment.

Most people only receive one payment, but there are circumstances where they can receive additional payments. This includes some federal Social Security, SSI, RRB, or VA beneficiaries who can receive a $ 500 security deposit for their eligible children. Both spouses can receive my payment by submitting their information to the security questions used to verify their identity. Once confirmed, both spouses will see the same payment status.

When you get a "Need More Info" and are looking for your direct deposit information, you will need to enter Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) and the withdrawal amount or amount you entered will appear on your joint tax return.

The AGI can be found in line 8b on your 2019 form 1040 or 1040-SR or inline 7 inline 1040 before 2018.
The loan amount can be found on Form 1040 of 2019 or 1040-SR on line 21A or on Form 1040 of 2018 on line 20A.
The amount owed can be found on Form 239 1040 or 1040-SR or inline 22 of Form 2018 on Form 1040.
Your payment can only be forwarded to a bank account if you have made the notification together.

Depending on your specific circumstances, you cannot access Get My Payment.

If you have used a non-filler: Enter the payment information tool here:

Get my payment Your payment status and details will be displayed within two weeks. Until your payment is scheduled, you will receive the message "Payment status not available".
If you received Supplemental Security Income (SSI), Survival or Disability Benefits (SSDI), Railroad Pension Benefits, or Department of Veterans Affairs benefits and did not file returns or use non-filer equipment:
